2017 MU How Are You Doing?

Summer is going by quickly and so are your opportunities for choosing a 90-day period for 2017. Here are some reminders of what I recommend you work on for the 2017 EHR incentive programs:
To start with, the most important thing you can do right now is to run your 2017 meaningful use reports for all the threshold (non-yes/no) objectives and CQMs for your hospital and/or Medicaid program providers.
The MU reports will identify your current performance for each objective, confirm data is pulling correctly for your CQMs, flag any issues and help prioritize the remaining meaningful use tasks needed for this year. Hopefully the reports will confirm that your hospital and/or Medicaid program providers are all on track.
If your hospital or providers are not passing all the threshold objectives or data is not pulling for the CQMs, you should immediately focus on identifying and solving the barrier or issue. Most often the resolution is education/training on the correct workflows in your EHR. If it is more complicated than that (i.e., your EHR needs configuration or set up) you will want to resolve the problem quickly so you do not run out of time.
Remember, there are different measures for the Medicare and Medicaid EHR incentive programs, so if you are not sure of the measures you need, check out the blog dated 3/29 for all the information.
I know you juggle a lot of priorities each day; however, I am encouraging you to take a few minutes this week to run your meaningful use reports to help identify your remaining MU tasks for the year.
You will also want to make sure you perform/update your security risk assessment for this year. If you have questions on that, or would like help from us, please contact Susan Clark, our security and privacy expert at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As always, if you have any questions, or run into issues with any of the meaningful use objectives and would like help please use the “Leave a Reply” section below, or email Patty Kosednar directly with your questions or comments.
